After completing his Master of Science in Conservation Biology, Arijit earned his Doctoral degree on the reproductive behaviour of endemic Nicobar long-tailed macaque. In September 2019, he received the Leakey Foundation Research Grant and joined NIAS as Principal Investigator, and since February 2021, after receiving National Postdoctoral Fellowship, he has been working as a postdoctoral associate in Animal Behavior and Cognition Programme.
Arijit has wide-ranging research interests in ecology, primatology animal behavior, evolutionary biology, and conservation biology. His current researches focus on the adaptation and development of manipulative behavioural approaches in macaques, the impact of anthropogenic activities on human-macaque relationships and their culture, and the conservation of non-human primates of India. Arijit is always looking forward to collaboration and brainstorming discussions.
