The School covers research in the fields of complex systems, ecology and conservation biology, and energy and the environment. Current research interests of the faculty include nonlinear dynamics and its application to physical and biological problems; mammalian behavioural ecology, human-animal studies, human-wildlife conflict, human and non-human cognitive decision making, and science communication; climate change mitigation, renewable energy, nuclear power, energy systems modelling and equitable energy access.
