Abstract:

Reviewing two recent books on J&K ("Jammu and Kashmir: Politics of Identity and Separatism" by Rekha Chowdhary and "Unravelling the Kashmir Knot," by Aman M Hingorani), the author concludes: "A larger international and legal response is unlikely to have a domino effect within J&K. Rather, an approach and solution within J&K, will have a larger domino effect into Indo-Pak and international aspects of Kashmir conflict. This would bring New Delhi into the eye of the storm, and perhaps rest the onus here in Delhi, Jammu, Srinagar and Leh, rather than in Muzaffarabad, Islamabad and the Hague. This is the road that New Delhi should start with."
