Brief Biodata
Dr. P.K.Shetty is currently Professor and Dean at the National
Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore. He is a committed
educationist and policy analyst and his professional areas
of interest are Biosecurity & Agro-ecology, Energy and
Sustainability, Environmental Stewardship and Science and
Technology Policy Studies. He has co-edited three books, contributed
to numerous book chapters and published several peer reviewed
research papers, reports and articles. He has successfully
completed 10 research projects of societal significance both
at regional and national levels.
Dr. Shetty is on many committees and editorial boards of both
scientific and government concerns. He has conducted several
discussion meetings, seminars and conferences of national
interest and also associated with various science education
and environmental awareness programmes in the country. Dr.
Shetty has worked with many government and non-governmental
organizations in the areas of education, environment and society.
He has delivered many radio talks and is also a popular science
writer with several science publications in English and Kannada.
Dr.Shetty has visited a number of countries as part of his
professional work and is a frequently invited speaker at various
professional forums in India and abroad. He was Vice-President
of the Society of Pesticide Science, India. He is also a recipient
of several prestigious awards including Karnataka State Rajyotsava
Award (2007).
Dr. Shetty is also an Independent Director, Power Grid Corporation
of India Limited (A Government of India Enterprise) and the
Director of the Advanced Research Institute, Bangalore. Earlier,
he was the Head of the Environmental Studies Unit and served
as Dean (Administration) at the National Institute of Advanced
Studies, Bangalore.
