Abstract: In 2013, the Government of India launched the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan with the goal of selling 6-7 million new electric vehicles in 2020. However, we hardly see any electric vehicles on the Indian roads today. Developing electric mobility in India could reduce dependency on imported fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. But to reach these two objectives, major shifts are needed in both power and transport sectors. Thus, transitioning to cleaner sources for electricity generation and to more public transport powered by electricity is necessary. Some of these issues shall be discussed in the talk.
About the Speaker: Albane Julia is a Master’s student in energy engineering at the Ecole des Mines de Paris in France. She is currently an intern under Professor Srikanth, in the Energy and Environment Program of NIAS. Together, they work on renewable energies and electric mobility in India and on the policies that could support their development.
All are cordially invited
