Abstract

The Indian sub-continent is endowed with the most valuable and diverse built heritage sites and living monuments in this world. Today, this heritage is linked to the most pressing challenges of conservation, preservation, maintenance and management. The argument raises a point that whether the job of custodians, is administrative, identification of monuments and sites of national importance and notification along with conservation or is it time to look for best of heritage management practices. The presentation will give you a glimpse of challenges faced by the built heritage of India and a need for appropriate management strategies.
