A three-week summer school for MA, MPhil and PhD students
from all over the country will be held at the National Institute of Advanced
Studies, Bangalore. This workshop is organized by the Centre for Philosophy,
NIAS. Similar workshops have been held over the last two years. This workshop
will introduce students to philosophy, drawn from both Indian and Western
traditions, necessary to understand topics in social sciences and humanities.
Classes will be conducted by eminent philosophers and will be at an accessible
level for students who may not be students of philosophy.
Dates:
Monday, June 2, 2008 – Friday, June 20, 2008
MA, MPhil and early PhD students working in the broad areas of social sciences and humanities (including philosophy) can apply. If there are exceptional candidates from the natural sciences who are interested in philosophy, they will also be considered.
Send a CV (with marks and with email contact) along with an essay/working paper that you have written. During your stay in the workshop you will have to rework this working paper into one of publishable quality. This reworked submission will be evaluated at the end of the course. The last date for receiving the complete application is March 20, 2008.
Selected
students will be provided accommodation free of cost at NIAS.
