T S Gopi Rethinaraj
Joined NIAS on 02 June 2014. T.S. Gopi Rethinaraj is an Associate Professor in the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering, National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore. His research and teaching interests include energy security, climate policy, civilian and military uses of nuclear energy, and international security. Before joining NIAS, he was a faculty member at the Lee Kuan Yew School of National University of Singapore from 2005 to 2014. He received his PhD in nuclear engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois, USA) in 2005, and a master’s degree in physics from Bharathidasan University (Tamil Nadu, India) in 1995. Dr. Rethinaraj was a research associate at the Illinois Program in Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security (ACDIS) from 1999 to 2005, and also worked as a science correspondent for the Indian Express in Mumbai from 1995 to 1999. He has written on science, technology, and security issues for Jane’s Intelligence Review and Reuters and was a visiting fellow at the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Chicago in 1999.
